 How do I pack my things?

 Brylee Removals offers you the choice of packing your household items yourself or if you do not want the stress and stain of the packing we can supply profession packers for you.

 If you decide to pack yourself you can purchase various packing materials from our stores.

 What Size Packing Cases do I Need?

 As a small guide use the following:

 1 suitcase = 3ft carton

 1.5 suitcases = 4.5ft carton

 2 teachests = 9ft packing case

 3 suitcases = 9ft packing case

 3 teachests = 13ft packing case

 Things to do 4 Weeks before your Move

  •  File a change of address form with your local Post Office for each person receiving mail at your home. 
  • Notify any creditors, magazine or book clubs that you may belong to, of your new address.
  •   Contact your doctors and dentists of your family’s Medical Records Ask your physicians for colleague recommendations in your new town or city
  • Get copies of renewable prescriptions
  • Decide which items should be discarded or even donated to charity or if you are adventurous you could even have a boot sale or a garage sale.
  • Complete a home inventory listing of each possession, date purchased and value.
  • Notify your local Gas, Electricity & Water Companies to have your service turned off after your departure.
  • Contact the your new Gas, Electricity & Water Companies to have your services connected at your new home.
  • Notify the local schools, church, clubs and any other organisations of your impending move.

 

 Things to do 3 Weeks before your Move

  •  Decide items you will pack and request the delivery of the packing materials that you need, if you are packing yourself.
  • Sketch out the floor plan of your new home so that you can determine placement of your new furnishings.
  • Make a list of names and numbers you will need before you move or you will need to remember.
  • Notify Brylee Removal Services Limited, either by e-mail or by telephone, if there are any changes of dates or destination changes.
  • Make arrangements to move any pets or plants
  • Transfer insurance to cover fire, theft and personal property at your new address.

 

Things to do 2 Weeks before your Move

  •  Plan your trip to your new destination. (Make travel accommodations)
  • Return any borrowed items and collect things that you have loaned.
  • Make arrangements for servicing your appliances both at your current home and your new address
  • Dispose of any flammables such as petrol cans, cleaning fluids and any pressurised or aerosol cans that you make have
  • Discontinue with any regular newspaper, magazine or any services that you may have at your premises
  • If you are moving your TV antenna or satellite dish, make arrangements to have them taken down

 

 Things to do 1 Weeks before your Move

  • Transfer bank and savings accounts so you don’t lose interest
  • Make arrangements to discontinue your local telephone services. They can help or advise your new network and telephone services at your new premises
  • Determine the last of your items that you are taking with you
  • If you are packing yourself pack these items and set them aside in a designated area
  • Have rugs and curtains cleaned and keep in protective bags
  • Use up your frozen food supplies or give them away
  • Drain fuel from lawnmowers and other power equipment

 

 Things to do 1 Day before your Move

  • Pack a box of things you’ll need as soon as you reach your new premises. (This might include non-aerosol cleaning supplies, disposable plates and cups, light tools, snacks, bathroom items, kettle and bin bags)
  • Take this box with you or have the driver load it last and unload this box first
  • This usually the day all the packing is done. Make sure all packing services have been performed before you sign for them
  • Defrost, thoroughly clean and dry the refrigerator

 

 The Moving Day

  •  Be on hand when Brylee Removal’s driver arrives and throughout the loading process. (If you can’t be there, make sure that someone can to direct the movers)
  • Make sure that driver has in writing the name and a contact number, either a telephone number or a mobile number, for you or the person who is representing you, in case of any problems that may occur
  • Accompany the driver during inventory, Check on the condition of your goods as they are loaded
  • Make a final tour of your home. See that noting is over looked
  • Sign the bill of loading and make sure that your new address and telephone number has been changed and correct
  • Last of all lock all windows and doors and switch off all power supplies
